1. When will my street be plowed?

• Refer to the 'Snow Removal Zones' map - zones will be highlighted and identified by letter as City crews make their way through the 18 zones

• Snow routes are always plowed first - these routes consist of main thoroughfares that lead to and from hospitals
• School areas and hillside streets are next
• Followed by residential areas

• Downtown is only plowed at night and after snow routes, hillside streets and school areas are completed

• The City will try to use snow gates during all snow accumulations but during heavy snow events they are not effective and may not be used

• Snow gates are used to limit the amount of snow discharge in driveways and around mailboxes

6. When can snow gates not be used?

• Snow gates cannot be used during heavy/wet snowfalls as this type of accumulation becomes too heavy and breaks the gates

7. Who do I call if a vehicle is parked in front of my house and the plow cannot get through?

• The Police Department can enforce parked cars to move or arrange towing and impounding when necessary

8. What happens to vehicles that are parked on emergency snow routes during a snow emergency?

• Vehicles that are parked on emergency snow routes will be towed and impounded if a snow emergency has been declared as they hinder snow removal

9. Whose responsibility is it to keep sidewalks cleared off?

• Residents are responsible for clearing snow and maintaining the sidewalk abutting their property per the City of Minot Code of Ordinances

10. Who enforces sidewalk snow removal?

• The Police Department enforces sidewalk snow removal

11. Can I shovel snow from my property into the street for the plow to get when it comes by?

• No, snow must remain on the resident's property - it is illegal to put snow on City streets or City property
