The City of Minot is proud to launch its new single-sort Curbside Recycling Program for its sanitation customers in July 2023. The program is designed to make recycling more convenient and accessible for all residents while promoting sustainability and protecting the environment.
The program has a monthly fee of $2.50 per customer. This cost covers the operational expenses of the program.
The program is available exclusively for the City of Minot sanitation customers. All customers will receive a collection bin for recyclable materials in June 2023.

The City of Minot conducted a statistically valid survey to determine the level of support for the Curbside Recycling Program. The results indicated that 64% of the respondents were in favor of a curbside recycling program. This demonstrates the community's interest in recycling and the need for a more convenient program.
Recycling is an essential practice that can have a significant positive impact on the environment. By participating in the Curbside Recycling Program, residents can reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill, extend the life of the landfill, and conserve natural resources. Recycling also helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to climate change. Additionally, recycling reduces the need for virgin materials and the energy required to manufacture new products. By recycling, residents can help to conserve energy and reduce pollution, and ultimately save future tax dollars by extending the life of the current landfill.
Recyclable materials will be collected every other week, replacing one of the regular sanitation collection dates. Customers will continue to receive two collections per week. The City will provide a second collection bin specifically for recyclable materials. Customers are requested not to bag recyclables; glass and plastic bags cannot be collected in these containers.
