We encourage homeowners and property owners to review the preliminary flood risk maps to learn more about the flood risk in your area. A comments and appeals period is currently open to the public to identify changes or corrections to non-technical information or properties shown in an incorrect flood risk zone.
Please direct all comments regarding non-technical information such as street names or road configurations to R8commentsandappeals@fema.dhs.gov
If you believe your property has been incorrectly identified as being in the Special Flood Hazard Area (A or AE zones), an appeal may be submitted to the address above. Scientific information and required application forms supporting the appeal should be included, and a decision will generally be made within 90 days. More information regarding map changes and the process of obtaining a Letter of Map Change (LOMC) is available on FEMA's Flood Hazard Mapping page: (https://www.fema.gov/change-flood-zone-designation-online-letter-map-change)
The Engineering Department is available to answer questions regarding the flood zone your home or property is located in on the preliminary flood risk maps, along with more information about how to reduce your risk.
