Career Builders Apprenticeship Program 

APPLICATION AND TESTING PROCESS

  1. Submit an application for employment through: minotnd.gov/jobs or via the link below.
  2. Once you have submitted your application, contact Human Resources to make an appointment to take the written test.
  3. If you achieved a passing score (65%) on the written test you will be contacted to complete the physical testing (MPAT).
  4. Anyone who has passed the written test and physical test , and who meets the minimum qualifications required (see below), will be contacted for an interview.

 Minimum Qualifications: 
Applicants must meet 1 of the 5 following requirements PRIOR TO testing: 
 
1)  60 or more accredited college credits

2)  Possess a current North Dakota Peace Officer License

3)  Completion of a state certified Law Enforcement Skills program 

4)  a)  Fulfillment and Certification of at least ONE full term Active Duty US Military                             enlistment with an honorable discharge.  DD214 required.  

     b)  Completion of AT LEAST (2) years of enlistment and discharged due to                                    injury or other non-disciplinary reason with no less than a General                                          Discharge.  Applicants DD214 must be reviewed by the Chief of Police for                                approval.

5)  4 or more years of National Guard Service with a letter from commander 

     outlining dates of service, and that applicant is in good standing with their unit 

     with no disciplinary issues.  If no longer serving, applicant must provide their

     NGB22 form for proof of service with a General or Honorable Discharge (to be 

     reviewed by the Chief of Police)


All applications must include all applicable paperwork to include (but not limited to): a cover letter, resume, official copies of college transcripts, and credentials to include licenses, military documents, and certificates.  
  
Applicants must complete the written police exam, complete a job related physical agility and fitness test, oral interview, background investigation, personality assessment and post-offer medical exam.

   

Necessary Special Requirements
Possession of a valid North Dakota driver’s license. Must be able to possess a North Dakota Peace Officer’s License within one year.
